Sonia Bellugi (Light-Lyric-Coloratura Soprano)
Sonia Bellugi was born in Florence, Italy, into a family of musicians. After studying music and classical ballet for ten years she entered the National Conservatory of Florence as a classical singer. In 2006 she received an ERASMUS scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. While in Brussels she sang Susanna from Mozarts Nozze di Figaro in the Courant dair Festival and also sang as soloist at the Namur Theatre for the Fete de la Musique. She then entered the Conservatoire National de Region de Paris where she obtained her diploma with highest honours in 2009.
Sonia Bellugi has sung at the Chatelet Theatre in a production of Conte de fee, and at the Metallos Theatre in Paris. She has sung the role of the witch, in Dido and Enea by Purcell, and the role of Musetta in Boheme by Puccini with the National Conservatory in Paris. Other public appearances include a recital of music by George Gershwin at the Teatro della Pergola accompanied by Gregorio Nardi and several performances of Mozarts Messe de Couronnement directed by Johanna Knauf.
In August 2010 she was chosen to sing in Barbara Bonneys public Masterclass for the Austrian Voice Institute in the Salzburg Festival of Music and, in March 2011, she debuted at the Bastille Opera de Paris in two solo roles in the contemporary Opera Chat Perche, giving over a dozen performances of this opera in France and Switzerland, receiving excellent reviews.
Ms. Bellugi has received coaching from mezzo soprano Elsa Maurus and pianist Anne Marie Fontaine and has done masterclasses with Elsa Maurus, Alessandro Corbelli and Barbara Bonney.
