Since 1999 , chosen by M° Muti as winner of international competition for this role , he is Solo First Cellist for La Scala’s Theatre Orchestra and also for La Scala’s Philarmonica Orchestra, thus starting an intense worldwide activity.During 2005 summer he has been invited by M. Valery Gergiev to take part , as principal cello, to the World Peace Orchestra, with whom they had a tour in London, Berlin, Moskow and Beijing.Born in 1974, he started playing the cello with his father, Giuseppe – First Cellist at the Scala, when he was six . He graduated from the Milan “G. Verdi” Conservatory with Maria Leali, and then continued his studies with Mario Brunello, Thomas Demenga and Rocco Filippini.He attended several specialization stages with the Amadeus Quartet and was part of the “David” String Quartet, with whom he performed for the most important Italian musical associations. In 1998, having won an orchestra contest, he became Solo Cellist of the S. Cecilia orchestra in Rome, under the permanent conductor, M° Chung . As a soloist he has performed with the following orchestras : RAI, Angelicum, Sinfonica Marchigiana, Siciliana, Sinfonica di Osaka, Orchestra della Lombardia, Cantelli,sinfonica di Aosta as well as “Archi della Scala”- with whom he recorded Haydn’s D Major cello concert . He also play with several Teatro alla Scala chamber music groups. With “ Violoncellisti della Scala” they play several new pieces, specifically written for this ensemble. He has won first prizes at the International chamber music competitions of Stresa and Pinerolo, as well as scholarships from the Rotary Club and from the Milan Stradivari cello competition in 1999 (he was the only Italian awarded a prize). He teaches cello and Chamber music in several academies in Italy: Accademia del Teatro alla Scala,and regurarly he is invited for specifical stages in the conservatory (Milan and other Italian major city) For his performances he plays with a 1730 Carlo Antonio Testore cello .
